Thinking about joining the Central Catholic Band? Great! Have questions about the band? You have come to the right place! If you have questions that are not answered below, please feel free to e-mail the band director at email@example.com .Being in the band is a great way to make friends and to become involved in high school. When you walk into classes the first day, you’ll already know not only other freshman, but sophomores, juniors and seniors as well. As you walk the hallways you’ll see plenty of friendly faces!
The year begins with pre-camp at school for a week. These rehearsals last 3-4 hours. Then the band spends a week away at band camp. Students have a great time at camp, all while learning drill and music for the upcoming season. Rehearsals once school starts include both 7th period band during the school day, as well as rehearsals twice a week after school for about 1 1/2 hours.
The band also takes a trip every 2 years, alternating between a major trip (such as New York or Florida) and a minor trip (such as Cincinnati or Toronto.) This is a great opportunity for band members to see other parts of the country, as well as perform in different places. Trips also include plenty of time to have fun, sight see, and take in the major attractions in that city.
Interested in being involved at school in activities other than band? We have students who participate in football, soccer, track, cross country, softball, baseball, swimming, and in many other sports. Band members also take part in clubs and activities such as National Honors Society, chess, Spiritual commission, as well as others. We always encourage band members to participate in those activities, as well as band.
Don’t play an instrument? You have many options at CCHS. First you could join the marching band and learn while participating fully in band OR you could take beginning band your first year and then join the marching band after that.
Don’t have an instrument? We can help with that as well. Larger instruments, such as trombones, baritones, tubas and percussion are always provided, but we can also provide you with other instruments as well. All you have to do is ask!
If you can’t already tell, the Central Catholic Band is a fun activity to take part in!
